Marlborough Area Development Trust – "working in, with and for the community"

The Marlborough Area Development Trust, or MADT as it is more usually known, is a non-profit making voluntary organisation which works for the benefit of all 26 parishes in the Marlborough Community Area including the town itself.

Focussing mainly on economic, social and environmental issues the Trust’s aims are to ensure that our community is a vibrant, successful and pleasant place to live, work and visit; both now and in the future.
Working mainly with partner organisations we help to facilitate projects and schemes to enhance the lives, prospects and environment of those living, working or visiting our beautiful area. This takes many guises, from working with Action for the River Kennet to enhance the River Kennet as a local amenity, to improving information provision for residents and visitors by researching and producing "Eating Out" and "Discovery" leaflets, to identifying problem areas and helping to provide new activities for young people.
Looking around the town you will see interpretative panels, produced with the help of MADT, one in George Lane car park describing the route and unique environment of the River Kennet. Another located on The Common, was meticulously researched by the local history group, providing interesting facts about this gorgeous open space.

Most recently we have worked with Ramsbury Amenity Group to help them fund the erection of a similar panel opposite the Bell Inn in the heart of Ramsbury; this will guide you around their village and point out areas of interest.
